Old Town Mexican Cafe, located at 140 E Clark Ave in Santa Maria, CA, has carved a niche as a go-to spot for authentic Mexican cuisine. Diners rave about the warm chips paired with their award-winning salsa and refried beans, making it a perfect starter for any meal. Shaun Evans, one enthusiastic patron, highlights the “massive” California burrito filled with delectable steak and crispy fries, making it a must-try for burrito lovers.
The variety of dishes goes beyond burritos; from taco salads, expertly crafted to individual preferences, to pork tamales that hit the mark with a comforting taste. The attentive service adds to the overall positive experience, with staff ensuring that diners are well taken care of. With numerous reviews praising the authentic flavor profiles and great prices, Old Town Mexican Cafe positions itself as a beloved local establishment.
The atmosphere may be typical, but the food definitely stands out. As Richard Lee mentions, the kick of heat from their spicy salsa can excite the palate. For a memorable dining experience that offers both comfort and flavor, Old Town Mexican Cafe comes highly recommended by both locals and visitors alike.

I got there a bit on the early side and was seated right away. They brought out delicious salsa warm chips and warm bean dip. It was all delicious. It was my favorite salsa in a few years and the bean dip was probably tied for the best I have ever had. I was alone but finished off all of it. I got the California burrito with steak. First off it was huge. I couldn't finish it. Second it was delicious. The steak was amazing. The fries in it were just a little crispy so it made for a really good bite. Just a great burrito. I also ordered the pork tamale. It was good not great good. I would get it again for sure but pretty typical good tamale. The service was pretty on top of things they made sure I was taken care of. Everyone was very nice. The atmosphere was typical nothing would stand out. Overall great experience I very much recommend.

Authentic, down home Mexican food. Chips served with their award winning Salsa and also with refried beans. Couldn’t decide which I liked best, so ate both. My meal came quickly; I asked if they had any hotter sauce. She returned with their hottest salsa, basically the salsa I had before with more chilis in it. Poured the whole container over my food. Very good and with some respectable spicy fire! As they do serve breakfast items, I’ll be back to enjoy those also!

Old Town Mexican is the best around! Their beans are unlike any other restaurants and it adds so much more to their food. The staff is always so kind, welcoming, and attentive. Their food is fantastic!

Nice and quick service, just stopped by for chips and salsa. Mediocre. Salsa was ok, not spicy if you're looking for that, chips were not hot, nor warm, and was extremely hard. Not fresh at all. Not what I was expecting for just chips/salsa. Priced reasonably...

I am not a pazolli fan but I will tell you that their pazolli was absolutely amazing and the broth was incredibly flavourful. The owner and her son we're both super super sweet definitely a place to come back to and if I ever need a soup I will consider this again
